Two people have been killed after a light plane crashed off the coast.
Emergency services responded after 4pm on Saturday to reports of a microlight crash off Nambucca Heads on the New South Wales mid-north coast.
A witness said he saw a light plane appear to go down out to sea, according to police, and wreckage was seen about 1.5km offshore soon after.
The pilot and passenger of the microlight died at the scene and are yet to be formally identified, police said.
Police were investigating the incident and being assisted by Recreational Aviation Australia.
