RUBEN SELLES has left Reading to take over Hull City – as the ex-Southampton manager works his way back up the leagues.
Championship strugglers City have brought in the Spaniard a week after sacking former Hamburg chief Tim Walter.
Selles, 41, has guided Reading into the League One play-off spots.
Now Hull have handed him a two-and-a-half-year deal as head coach.
Selles left his position as FC Copenhagen assistant boss for his first role in English football as recently as June 2022.
That was when Ralph Hasenhuttl made him his No 2 at Southampton.
Selles became caretaker boss when Hasenhüttl was axed five months later.
Nathan Jones, the Saints’ next permanent manager, only lasted from November 2022 to February 2023.
And Selles got the job again, this time on an interim basis, for the rest of the season.
But he failed to keep Southampton in the Prem and they declined to renew his deal – with current manager Russell Martin landing the position in June 2023.

Selles took over at Reading that same month – before now moving back up a division with the Tigers.
He told Hull’s website: “I am really happy. When the possibility to come here became real, my eyes were on Hull City.
“I know the team, the club, the history and I’m looking forward to starting my journey with the team.
“I saw a lot of similarities with where we are as technical staff and what we want to do for the present and the future, and that’s why I decided to come.”
Andy Dawson will remain caretaker chief at home to Blackburn on Saturday, with Selles taking charge against visitors Watford next Wednesday.
That means he will have managed in the top three divisions in the space of two years – all with different sides.
Meanwhile, the Royals have promoted Under-21s chief Noel Hunt to first-team boss on a contract until 2027.
