TOTTENHAM’S hero keeper Guglielmo Vicario has had surgery after fracturing his ankle at Manchester City.
Vicario’s smart saves thwarted Erling Haaland in particular as Spurs won 4-0.
But Tottenham confirmed on Monday night the Italian has since needed an operation – which is likely to mean a long lay-off.
He was given on-pitch treatment at the Etihad and was seen limping away from the stadium afterwards.
Now Spurs have said in a statement: “We can confirm that Guglielmo Vicario has today undergone surgery for a fracture of his right ankle.
“Guglielmo will be assessed by our medical staff to determine when he can return to training. We’re all behind you, Vic.”
The £17m stopper has gradually settled into Prem football, especially this season, after joining from Empoli in June 2023.
And in fact he was prominent AFTER as well as during Saturday’s sizzling but surprise success at the Prem champs.
He posted an Instagram message that many thought was aimed at his doubters.
The four-cap star, 28, wrote: “A lot of noise recently.. but this is why we do it. Great win away from home. #COYS @SpursOfficial.”
