Boy killed in shark attack off Jamaican coast

16-year-old boy, Jahmari Reid, was tragically killed in a shark attack while spearfishing off the coast of Jamaica. The incident occurred near Montego Bay, a popular tourist destination in the northwest of the island.

Jahmari, a secondary school student from the Trelawny area, went missing on Monday while out at sea alone. Local fishermen discovered his body the following day, showing signs of a fatal shark attack. Reports indicate that Jahmari was decapitated, and one of his arms was bitten off.

Efforts to kill the shark and recover Jahmari’s severed head are ongoing, according to local media.

Jahmari’s father, Michael Reid, expressed his grief, telling the Jamaica Observer, “I can’t believe that he went to sea by himself and that was the outcome. Sad to know. I feel so bad.”
