A European citizen on vacation in Morocco has become the first confirmed case of monkeypox in the Ceuta, Spanish media reported on Monday.

The patient, a man of unknown age and nationality, was admitted to the University Hospital of Ceuta and placed in isolation. His results have now confirmed the presence of monkeypox.

The hospital has implemented strict protocols to prevent the spread of the virus, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), reuse of COVID-19 isolation areas, and adherence to transfer procedures for patients from third countries.
