Founder of private messaging app Telegram, Pavel Durov, is set to remain in French custody following his arrest at a Parisian airport until Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation into organized crime.

French President Emmanuel Macron has denied any political motivation behind the arrest, emphasizing that it was a purely judicial matter.

Durov has faced criticism for allegedly failing to take sufficient measures to curb the misuse of Telegram, particularly the spread of extremist content.

Judicial authorities claim he has not adopted mechanisms to limit such content or cooperate with investigators.
