On August 5, Le Canard Enchaîné reported that the French Interior Ministry requested a detailed update from local authorities about ongoing standoffs involving dozens of undocumented Algerian nationals subject to expulsion orders.
The magazine noted that these undocumented Algerians are being transported back and forth between France and Algeria at French taxpayers’ expense, without being permitted to disembark in Algeria.

Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf announced last week that recalling the Algerian ambassador from Paris was only the initial step in response to France’s support for Morocco’s autonomy plan for the Sahara, a move made during the 25th anniversary of Morocco’s Throne Day.
