When LELO released the Enigma Wave at the tail end of 2023, we declared that the Swedish sexual wellness brand had reached new heights in multi-tasking. The Enigma Wave, as per its two predecessors, targeted both the clitoris and G spot but with WaveMotion technology for deeper stimulation.
LELO is not a brand that’s content to rest on its laurels and the sexual pleasure pioneer has now released the fourth iteration of the Enigma. The Double Sonic features both SenSonic and DeepSonic technology. Brace yourself for a juggling act as this sex toy targets the clitoris, the G-Spot and the A-spot. Now that really is multi-tasking.
What is the A-spot? No, it’s not a typo, nor is it in the anus (although it can be stimulated via anal play). The A-spot, medically known as the anterior fornix erogenous zone, is an area deep inside the vagina. It sits around two inches above the G spot on the anterior vaginal wall positioned between the cervix and the bladder. Because of its lofty position in the vagina it can be hard to reach with fingers, as an insertable toy, penis or fingers would need to be at least five inches long to stimulate this zone. There is some debate as to whether everyone feels pleasure with A-spot stimulation, but those who do are said to sometimes experience deep, long and sensational orgasms.
Does the LELO Enigma Double Sonic fulfill its promise? Read on for my full review.
LELO Enigma Double Sonic review: price and availability
The LELO Enigma Double Sonic is one of only a handful of toys on the market designed to stimulate the A-spot and it comes at a luxury price of £189. It’s available to buy at select retailers like Superdrug and Beauty Bay, and it comes in black and pink colours.
LELO does offer other toys that will stimulate the A-spot that are cheaper than the Double Sonic – including the Elise 2 at £169 and the anal Soraya Beads at £199. However, only the Double Sonic has triple intentions by targeting the clitoris, G-spot and A-spot at the same time.
LELO Enigma Double Sonic review: design and features
As with all LELO toys the Double Sonic is aesthetically pleasing with smooth curves and an ergonomically designed handle. It’s not exactly dainty as this multi tasker has many functions to fulfill but it’s attractive nonetheless. The handle is flanked by an iridescent panel with a clitoral stimulator at the back. It’s here that a motor powers SenSonic waves for contactless clitoral stimulation. From the handle it bends rather gracefully into an insertable tip. This is powered by a separate motor and features a soft pad, which emits DeepSonic waves to target the A-spot. The tip of the arm vibrates to stimulate the G-spot.
A trio of buttons are positioned on the inside of the handle to operate settings and adjust the intensity. The central button turns the device on and off when held for three seconds. A quick press will toggle you through eight different settings. Press the top button to increase intensity and the bottom one to reduce. Press both + and – at the same time to trigger the travel lock and prevent any awkward moments when in transit.
The Double Sonic is app enabled so LELO app users have the option to unlock two exclusive modes: Finish Me Off and Out Of Control, if you’d like to relinquish control of the toy. The Double Sonic is waterproof for wet play and crafted from body-safe silicone, which feels super soft and premium. It’s USB rechargeable and raring to go after two hours with the same amount of usage time. Size matters in this instance and the Enigma Double Sonic measures in at 5.5 inches, long enough to reach the enigmatic A-Spot.
LELO Enigma Double Sonic review: performance
I was eager and intrigued to try this toy with its promise of A-spot stimulation. Could I expect an entirely new level of pleasure? It’s certainly a bold claim and one I was keen to put to the test.
LELO had informed me that applying extra lube is important in A-spot stimulation as delving so deep into the vagina can be uncomfortable without it. Heed this advice and inserting the Double Sonic will be pleasurable. The ergonomic design and the flexibility of the arm is also appreciated. As with all insertable toys, particularly one that offers both clitoral and internal stimulation, it takes a little negotiation to get the right position.
I would recommend getting comfortable with the Double Sonic inserted before trying out the different settings and intensity levels. Stimulating the G-spot and the A-spot takes time and mindful adjustment as you have to ‘feel’ your way to pleasure. When targeting such a deep part of the vagina, sensory receptors are extra alert, so going in all guns blazing is not necessarily the route to success. You can always turn up the heat and increase the intensity as and when it feels right. It’s easy to adjust in situ as the buttons are well positioned and receptive to the touch.
Each of the eight settings offer a very different sensation and it will soon become clear what feels right… and wrong! Varying combinations of deep rumbles, circular waves and more pronounced pulsating emissions provide plenty of options. Some of the settings feel more targeted towards the clitoris, while others turn the attention to the G-spot and A-spot.
While the Double Sonic measures in with the same insertable length as the Wave, it certainly feels a lot deeper. The emission of deep sonic waves stimulates an area of the vagina that’s beyond the capacity of a regular G-spot vibrator. The sensations are intense and sustained, with a different quality to G-spot stimulation alone. Allow this toy to do its work and it will deliver whether that be via the clitoris, G-spot or A-spot, or if you’re lucky, a combination of all three.
LELO Enigma Double Sonic review: verdict
There is something for everyone here. If A-spot stimulation is not for you then the G-spot and clitoris are being equally well cared for with the Double Sonic so no one misses out. This toy is not just about results, however, as the journey is just as important.
The Double Sonic is more about self discovery than a box-ticking exercise and it should be approached as such. Neither is this toy designed for a ‘quick fix’. If you’re looking for something that can give you pleasure when time is short or the need is great then this is not for you. It’s priced as an investment and it requires your time as well as your finances. Treat the Double Sonic as a long- term friend, rather than a brief acquaintance, and you’ll enjoy a rewarding relationship.
