Nancy Faeser, Germany’s interior minister, has banned right-wing magazine Kompakt.
The Interior Ministry said on Tuesday morning that the production company Concept Film had also been banned.
From the early hours of this morning, police began raiding the magazine’s premises and the homes of key actors, management and shareholders in the states of Brandenburg, Hesse, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt to confiscate assets and evidence, the ministry said in a statement.
Faeser justified the ban, saying that Kompakt is “the main spokesperson for the far-right scene.”
“This magazine incites hatred against Jews, against people with a history of immigration, and against our parliamentary democracy in an unspeakable way,” she said.
The interior minister added that the ban shows that “we are also taking action against intellectual arsonists who fuel a climate of hatred and violence against refugees and migrants and want to defeat our democratic state.”
