Moroccan students continue to hold the top spot among foreign students at French universities,  according to the latest “Key Figures on Student Mobility and Transfers” report by Campus France.

The report highlights a strong and growing presence of Moroccan students, reaching 45,126 for the 2022-2023 academic year. This represents a 3% increase compared to the previous year and places Morocco ahead of Algeria and China regarding student representation.

Beyond overall enrollment numbers, Morocco also boasts the most students enrolled in French engineering schools, which saw during the same academic year, 6,110 Moroccan students pursuing engineering degrees in France.

France’s appeal extends beyond just Moroccan students, with the report confirming that France is a top destination for international students.

Overall enrollment figures have seen a 3% year-on-year increase, with North African students continuing to be a significant portion of the international student body.

In a move that will likely further strengthen ties between France and Moroccan academia, the French Embassy in Morocco recently announced simplified procedures for obtaining Schengen visas, specifically for Moroccan graduates of French higher education institutions, potentially making it easier for them to return to France for future visits.
