In a video statement posted on X, Spain’s Second Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Diaz declared, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
Spain has officially recognized Palestine as a state, drawing immediate backlash from Israel, which recalled its ambassadors to Spain, Ireland, and Norway.
The move comes after the three countries declared their intention to recognize Palestinian statehood moving forward.
El reconocimiento del Estado palestino es una cuestión de derechos humanos y legalidad internacional.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, in a statement following the recognition, stated that Spain would be joined by other European countries in this effort.
“The more there are of us, the sooner we will achieve a ceasefire. We are not going to give up,” Sanchez asserted.
