Member of the British Parliament, Ian Byrne, inquired about the Foreign Office’s assessment of its policy’s impact on the humanitarian situation in the Tindouf refugee camps in Algeria.

In response, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) acknowledged ongoing concerns. David Routley, the FCDO’s parliamentary representative, emphasized the UK’s commitment to international humanitarian law and monitoring the situation in the camps.

Routley highlighted the UK’s continued support through contributions to UN bodies like the World Food Programme and its consistent backing of UN Security Council resolutions recognizing the refugees’ hardships and dependence on aid.

However, Routley expressed concern about insufficient funding and declining aid for Sahrawi refugees in Algeria.
