A 28-year-old Moroccan citizen in Belgium was fatally shot late Sunday when two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle opened fire at a café terrace in Brussels.
Two people were injured in the shooting, including Hassan B. who passed away of his injuries in the hospital.
The victim’s brother, Younes B., told the press that his brother was “in the wrong place at the wrong time,” adding that the perpetrators “fired randomly at the people on the terrace, possibly in retaliation for an earlier incident at the café,” believing that his brother was shot “accidentally.”
While Younes B. believes that his brother was shot accidentally, Belgian media noted that an investigation will need to determine whether the shooting was related to drug trafficking or if the victims were mistakenly targeted.
