Former Georgia wide receiver Jermaine Burton is transferring to in-conference rival Alabama, he announced on Sunday. He is ranked No. 4 in The Athletic’s list of available college football transfers.
Burton, who will be a junior next season, is coming off a campaign in which he led the Bulldogs with 497 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 26 catches. He caught two passes for 28 yards against his new team in the College Football Playoff national title game two weeks ago.
In his two seasons in Athens, Burton racked up 53 receptions for 901 yards and eight touchdowns.

Alabama 2022 football roster update: Where the Crimson Tide stand after transfers and NFL Draft decisions
What Burton brings to Tuscaloosa
Aaron Suttles, Alabama beat writer: Alabama is in need of wide receivers with Jameson Williams and John Metchie off to the draft and Javon Baker headed to Kentucky via the transfer portal. Adding Burton is adding a player at a position of priority. Alabama fans should remember him for his performance in the 2020 game at Bryant-Denny Stadium. He has an excellent chance to compete for a starting role for the 2022 season.
It’s not known yet if Alabama is done in the portal for wide receivers, but I expect them to add more players, maybe even another wide receiver.
