Pelicans’ Zion Williamson exits with apparent injury vs. Lakers after scoring 40th point

Zion Williamson looked unstoppable during Tuesday’s Play-In Tournament opener against the Los Angeles Lakers, a 110-106 loss, until the New Orleans Pelicans star stopped early. He exited in the final minutes of the matchup after with an apparent injury, slamming a towel and walking to the locker room in the fourth quarter.

TNT’s Allie LaForce reported that Pelicans Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin went back into the tunnel to check on Williamson. There is still no update on his status.

The Lakers win secures them the seventh seed in the playoffs, where the Denver Nuggets await them.
